Chelsea set to battle European heavyweights as they eye move for star of the future | OneFootball

Chelsea are one of several European clubs keeping an eye on Leicester City teenager Jeremy Monga according to reports.

The January window may have only closed at the start of the month, but that hasn’t stopped players already being linked to Chelsea, with the club said to have laid groundwork for summer deals.

The main priority for the summer is said to be a winger and striker, and the Blues are believed to be leading the race for Liam Delap, whilst they are also interested in Benjamin Sesko.

Chelsea interested in Monga

Under the Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital ownership it’s not just first team stars the Blues are looking at, they are also on a mission to sign the best young talent available.

They have heavily targeted the South American market, but they are also looking much closer to home and Mail Sport have reported they are one of the club’s keeping tabs on Monga.

The report adds that Manchester City, Paris Saint Germain and Barcelona are also interested in the talented teenager.

Monga is just 15 years old and is a winger who can play across the front line, and was in the squad for the FA Cup tie against Manchester United, but is yet to make his first team debut.

The report adds that Monga is regarded as one of the best talents Leicester have produced, but because he can’t sign a professional contract until he’s 17 the Foxes aren’t in a favourable position.

Monga no doubt has huge potential and has played six times in the Premier League 2 this season, registering one goal and one assist.

It’s great to see Chelsea signing top talents for the future, but fans will rightly be frustrated and questioning where the signings are for the first team, and what’s going to be done to take the side forward and get them back competing for major trophies.
