Chelsea receive second big blow as Xavi Simons alternative prefers to stay at his club | OneFootball

I guess nothing is impossible, but it looks like Chelsea have received their second big blow of the morning as approach the end of the window.

It’s all been bad news for Chelsea so far in the last couple of days. Well, unless of course you are one of the rare Chelsea fans who might actually be happy about signing Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United of course, because we also had the ‘here we go’ agreed deal for that one yesterday.

But if like the majority, and you were fully invested in Xavi Simons joining Chelsea from RB Leipzig this summer and have spent the last two months watching along the day by day updates on it and have witnessed how we’ve made the player wait for us all summer, you will be very annoyed this morning.

Xavi Simons looks like he is about to join Tottenham now and not Chelsea, and this is purely because Chelsea at this point have still not made an offer, and Spurs have gone ahead and agreed a fee with his club to sign him.

If Chelsea spent the whole summer trying to sign Simons and he ends up at Spurs, what a disastrous look that will be for these owners, and they’ve had many of those disastrous looks since they’ve been in charge here.

Well, Chelsea have been linked with Barcelona attacking midfielder Fermin Lopez as an alternative to Simons and more noise has been coming out on him this week.

However, it’s been reported by reliable sources close to his camp that he prefers to stay at Barcelona rather than join Chelsea.

Journalist Ferran Martinez said on this situation:

“Hansi Flick and Deco both believe that selling Fermin would be a mistake on a sporting level. The player isn’t going through easy days either, but he prefers to remain at the club. Chelsea isn’t giving up yet, though.”
