Napoli are still waiting for an answer on the contract renewal they offered to Frank Anguissa, who instead continues to buy time and is inclined to leave in the summer, with Chelsea recently joining Monaco among his suitors, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs (via Fantacalcio).

The Partenopei picked up a two-year option to extend his deal until 2027 to prevent a Bosman departure. They submitted a longer and richer proposal to reward the midfielder for his performances.

Anguissa hasn’t accepted it yet and is seriously mulling departing Napoli to go abroad in the summer, primarily for family-related reasons, and Monaco and Chelsea are currently the most likely landing spots. If he doesn’t change his mind, the Azzurri will comply with his request and seek a decent offer.

The star would have likely gone to France last year if Antonio Conte hadn’t convinced him to stay. The Blues inquired recently, and he could opt to return to England, where he previously starred for Fulham, with a much better status. He’s putting up career numbers offensively, having notched 6 goals and 4 assists in 32 appearances.

At this point, it doesn’t look like just a negotiating tool but rather a genuine desire. There’s little the club can do about it, if not finding a good bid and a worthy replacement. It won’t be easy or cheap to identify somebody who has the same physicality and impact in the final third. While he wouldn’t have trouble drawing suitors in the Premier League, it’d be a little surprising if he indeed joined the Pensioners, which generally purchase younger players and are pretty stacked in the midfield.
