Chelsea make formal enquiry for Bundesliga breakout star | OneFootball

Chelsea have made formal enquiry for Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Bynoe-Gittens as the Blues look to beat competition from Premier League rivals.

Bynoe-Gittens has caught the attention of Premier League clubs after a brilliant breakout season at Borussia Dortmund.

The 20-year-old has scored 11 goals in all competitions, including four in just five Champions League starts. No player in the Bundesliga has averaged more successful take-ons or progressive carries per 90 minutes than Bynoe-Gittens this season.

His displays have led to a competitive race for his signature with Chelsea leading the chase. Bynoe-Gittens previously spent time in the academy at Chelsea, in addition to stints with Reading and Manchester City. He departed the latter in 2020 to sign for Dortmund, where has has since made 84 senior appearances.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool have also sent scouts to watch the England u-21 international in action this season. However, Dortmund expect the player to remain at the Westfalenstadion this month before expected interest from English clubs in the summer.

Chelsea are keen to bring in another wide player this month and submitted an enquiry last week. The West Londoners are also monitoring Alejandro Garnacho’s situation at Manchester United.

United are understood to be prepared to consider offers for the Argentina international, though last week rejected a £40m approach from Italian side Napoli.
