Chelsea have been linked with a big-money move for highly rated Italian centre-back Giorgio Scalvini.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the Blues are serious about the 21-year-old defender and are ‘pressing’ to reach an agreement with Atalanta.

Interest in the Atalanta star has begun to intensify across Europe. Chelsea have been monitoring the defender’s situation closely and are preparing to make a formal offer.

They want to move quickly to complete a deal before the competition intensifies. Scalvini has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in the past.

Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are all tracking Scalvini, who could be one of the most talked-about defensive targets of the summer.

Chelsea are currently leading the race, but the outcome could change depending on the offers that come in.

Despite Chelsea’s interest, Atalanta are still mulling over whether or not they want to sell him. La Dea have already allowed top goalscorer Mateo Retegui to leave this summer.

Atalanta are getting picked apart this summer and are incredibly reluctant to entertain offers for Scalvini.

Scalvini’s injury record could deter potential suitors. He tore his anterior cruciate ligament in June 2024 but made a remarkable return to training just 170 days later.

He missed only 17 matches with the knee problem, but unfortunately suffered a shoulder injury during a Champions League clash against Barcelona in January 2025.

That setback limited his playing time to just eight appearances and 371 minutes in total last season, with only six of those coming in Serie A.

Despite the injuries, Scalvini remains one of the most promising young defenders in European football.

However, Chelsea are unlikely to move for him this summer. The Blues have cooled their search for a new centre-back and are happy with the options at their disposal.
