Liam Delap will not be named in the England squad for the Under-21 Euros and will go to the Club World Cup with Chelsea instead according to the Daily Mail.
Chelsea made Delap their first summer signing after agreeing a deal with Ipswich worth £30m and the 22-year-old will wear the number nine shirt at Stamford Bridge.
Delap was Chelsea’s top transfer target and the Blues did well to beat off strong competition from the likes of Manchester United and Newcastle for his signature.
Enzo Maresca knows Delap well having worked with him at the Manchester City academy and he’s praised the striker on a number of occasions this season.
Delap will add a much needed different dimension to the Chelsea attack and give the Blues a genuine alternative to Nicolas Jackson which they’ve really lacked.

Chelsea were expected to ask Delap to choose the Club World Cup over representing England at the U21 Euros, but a final decision was yet to be taken.
However, Mail Sport have reported Delap is set to be left out of Lee Carsley’s squad and will instead go to the Club World Cup with Chelsea.
The report adds it’s believed Delap has the approval of Carsley and the England under-21 boss is believed to be understanding of the situation.
Delap impressed in his debut Premier League season and scored 12 goals, and could make his Chelsea debut on June 16th against Los Angeles FC.
Delap might not be the only forward arriving at Stamford Bridge this summer with the Blues also interested in Hugo Ekitike.

Frankfurt are said to value the 22-year-old at €100m, a price Chelsea aren’t prepared to pay, with Premier League champions Liverpool also interested.
Chelsea are said to be pushing to reach a verbal agreement with Ekitike, but agreeing on a fee could be difficult, and it’s unlikely any potential deal would be done in time for the young Frenchman to feature at the Club World Cup.
