Chelsea defender Jorja Fox has sustained a second Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury.

The Blues confirmed the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.

It has been reported that the youngster sustained the injury whilst on loan at Chelsea’s Barclays Women’s Super League rivals Crystal Palace. Fox only joined The Eagles on loan a month ago but she will not be available for selection for the remainder of the season and she will now return to her parent club to begin her rehabilitation.

Fox has now ruptured her Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) twice in a little over 15 months. The defender previously sustained the injury during a loan spell at Brighton & Hove Albion at the end of the 2022/2023 season. Fox spent most of last season in rehabilitation before returning to full fitness but sadly, she has now suffered another significant setback.

The 21-year-old joined Chelsea’s academy system at the age of eight and she has successfully worked her way through the youth age groups to first team level. The player made her senior debut for the club in a 4-0 win over Aston Villa during the 2020/2021 season. Fox has made one further appearance for The Blues since that maiden outing.
