Chelsea defender Axel Disasi was reluctant to join West Ham United today despite both clubs holding talks, according to the Guardian journalist Jacob Steinberg.
West Ham manager Graham Potter wanted to bring the 27-year-old to the London Stadium club today, and the Blues were open to a deal.
Chelsea wanted a £5 million fee from the Hammers after they asked about potentially signing Disasi in a temporary deal.
The Blues also wanted West Ham to cover his full wages, but the Frenchman was not interested in a move to the East London club.
West Ham were also in talks to sign Brighton & Hove Albion centre-back Igor Julio as a replacement for Nayef Aguerd, but Crystal Palace threatened to beat them to a deal.
A loan deal for the Brazilian is believed to be on the cards as it appears the Premier League received a deal sheet for him before 6.59pm.
The window closed at 7pm, but the Premier League will grant additional two hours to complete any transfers if a deal sheet was submitted before 6.59pm.
Igor began a medical this afternoon at Crystal Palace and looked set to join Oliver Glasner’s side – who are looking for defensive reinforcements with Marc Guehi poised to join Liverpool.
However, West Ham have pipped them to his services with an announcement expected soon.
He left Palace to West Ham’s training ground for a medical and to finalise the move in the afternoon, and Potter will be hoping the deal gets over the line.
Having the Brighton star in his defence will be a huge boost for the Hammers boss, but he would have been glad had a deal for Disasi also worked out.
West Ham were working on both deals, but the former AS Monaco star eventually turned down the chance to seal a move.
