Chelsea spent a couple of years signing exclusively young players, but it seems like their model may be tweaked a little this summer.

Heading back into the Champions League, they’re keen to add some experience, and we’re seeing older heads like Aymeric Laporte linked as the sporting directors potentially consider adding some veterans to help the team and help the youngsters develop.

Bright Ede the latest talent to come out of Poland

Bright Ede signs scores for Motor Lublin.

But that doesn’t mean the Blues are slowing down in their charge to acquire all the best young players around. Just this after another teenager’s name has been added to the list in the form of Bright Ede.

TransferMarkt say the Polish youngster’s representatives met with Chelsea chiefs during the Blues’ successful trip to Wroclaw to play the Conference League final. He plays for Motor Lublin, but it doesn’t seem like he will be staying there long. Arsenal have also been linked with Ede, who only made his professional debut last season.

He moved to Lublin for €100k in January, and already is valued by them at €11m.

He’s called an “exceptional talent” in TransferMarkt’s piece, and their Polish football expert says he’s “physically strong,” with “excellent vision to build attacks from defence.” He has a word of caution, however, to point out that the youngster has only played 6 senior games.

Strasbourg a natural next step for 18 year old talent Ede

Joining Strasbourg, who have just sold Mamadou Sarr to the Chelsea mothership, seems a natural next step for Ede as he builds up some game time at senior level in a league with a higher standard.

This is only the first we’re hearing of this rumour, but given how quickly and quietly Chelsea have worked with some of their swoops for young players in the last couple of years, that doesn’t mean it couldn’t be wrapped up quickly.
