In a recent report, journalist Mark Brus mentioned that Chelsea are among the clubs hoping to land Atalanta defender Giorgio Scalvini. It has been stated that the Blues would have to rival Manchester United, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur in the race to land the Italian centre-back this summer.
The 21-year-old was sidelined for a lot of games in the previous campaign because of injuries. Still, Scalvini deserves credit for putting in a few impressive displays for Atalanta in Serie A football.
The Italian sensation featured in eight matches for the Italian club last season across multiple competitions. Despite his injury concerns, he is among the best young centre-backs in Serie A. Therefore, Chelsea would do well to lure him to Stamford Bridge this summer.
His current contract at the Italian club will run out in the summer of 2028. Therefore, the Blues would have to make a big offer if they want to win the race for his services.

Scalvini is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive and can even play his way out from the back.
Standing at 1.94m, Scalvini can use his strong frame to dominate the opposition attackers in the air. He is primarily a centre-back but can also play as a defensive midfielder if required.
We can expect Scalvini to add more bite and steel to Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca’s defence in the long run. He has what it takes to challenge for a regular first-team spot at the Premier League club next season.
At 21, Scalvini still has a lot of room to grow as a footballer. Thus, it makes sense for the Blues to try and get him on board this off-season. He would undoubtedly increase competition for places within Chelsea’s match-day squad. With all things considered, the Italian defensive ace would be a good fit for the West London club’s needs in the long run.
