Charlton Women’s late double denies ten-player Newcastle victory | OneFootball

Charlton Athletic came from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 at Newcastle United in the Barclays Women’s Championship, Sunderland fought back for a derby win at Durham.

Charlton dramatically drew with two stoppage-time goals at Newcastle, who had Amber-Keegan Stobbs sent off with seven minutes of the 90 left. Shania Hayles struck twice in the opening quarter of an hour for United, Amy Andrews and Stobbs with the assists. Katie Bradley replied four minutes after the interval, Hayles then completing her hat-trick from the penalty spot. Kayleigh Barton reduced the arrears on 94 minutes and moments later Bradley levelled with her second of the match.

Hannah Blake had Durham ahead 10 minutes in, Sunderland levelling through an Eleanor Dale penalty and Mary McAteer completing the turnaround early in the second half.

Lucy Quinn’s header helped Birmingham City take the lead at Southampton but the Saints Megan Collett got the last touch. It was 2-0 lot long after the interval, Rebecca McKenna pulling the ball back for Lily Agg to sweep in. Results elsewhere meant that the Blues went two points clear at the top.

Ellen Molloy sent Maria Farrugia away to open the scoring for Sheffield United at Blackburn, Rovers level through Maria Edwards only two minutes after the break. With ten minutes to go, Monique Robinson played in Farrugia to double her tally for the day and clinch the Blades first points of the campaign.

Ffion Morgan put Bristol City one up after five minutes against Portsmouth, rounding the keeper to score after Amy Rodgers through ball. That proved enough to send Pompey to a seventh straight defeat and lift the Robins into sixth spot.
