‘Change the rules’ – Carlo Ancelotti jokes about fitting all of his Real Madrid stars into XI | OneFootball

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has on Thursday provided a lighthearted solution to his problems in fitting the whole host of attacking options at his disposal into one line-up this coming season.

The subject of the embarrassment of riches under the watch of the coaching staff in Madrid has of course long proven a headline topic of conversation in Spain.

This comes with a core of Vinícius Jr, Rodrygo, Arda Güler, Brahim Díaz and, to some extent, Jude Bellingham, having been added to by another pair of explosive talents.

In the knowledge that Brazilian sensation Endrick was long on his way, Florentino Pérez and co. nevertheless moved forward with their long-running pursuit of Kylian Mbappé.

Safe to say, then, that Carlo Ancelotti will have his hands full, in finding sufficient minutes to keep all of his players happy in 2024/25.

Speaking during an appearance on John Obi Mikel’s Obi Wan Podcast this week, Real Madrid’s headmaster was drawn on his plans in the attacking third for the season ahead.

And Ancelotti, in his response, made use of the opportunity to make light of the situation.

Mikel:

“Arda Güler, Endrick, Rodrygo, Mbappé, Vinicius, Bellingham, you have a scary squad boss!”

Ancelotti:

“Scary, huh… we will have to change the rules. Put more than 11 players on the pitch!”
