A major blow for Algeria ahead of CHAN

Madjid Bougherra has made a change to the Algeria local team roster for the African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024).

The Algerian coach will have to do without Mohamed Benkhemassa. The MC Alger defensive midfielder, whose name was included in the final squad, picked up an injury during training and will therefore be unable to answer the call-up.

The Algerian Football Federation has already announced his replacement. It is his club teammate, Tayeb Meziani.

Finalists in the 2022 edition, which was held at home, the Fennecs A’ are hoping to clinch the title. They will compete in Group C against Uganda (August 4), South Africa (August 8), Guinea (August 15), and Niger (August 18).
