Dortmund have endured a mixed season so far as they currently sit in 5th place in the Bundesliga table and are three points behind the league leaders, Bayern Munich.

Last week Nuri Sahin’s side picked up a crucial victory against Bochum after an embarrassing 5-1 defeat away to Stuttgart the week before.

Sahin will now be experiencing a Champions League match at home as a manager after playing in many European matches for Dortmund as a player.

“It shouldn’t never be taken for granted that we have the privilege to experience nights like these, it has been incredible for a number of years. Every game has its own unique history here in our stadium,” said Sahin.

Celtic currently sit at the top of their domestic league with 18 points and are in excellent form having won all of their games so far.

However, history is not on their side for this fixture as they are yet to beat Borussia Dortmund and have never won a competitive fixture in Germany.

Nuri Sahin provided an injury boost update in his press conference.

It has been confirmed that Marcel Sabitzer has returned to training and should be available for selection.

Jamie Gittens and Julien Ryerson should also be available after taking knocks and being substituted last week against Bochum.

As for Celtic, defender Cameron Carter-Vickers is looking to try and return from a foot issue and if he makes it then Brendan Rodgers will have a fully fit squad to choose from.
