Bild reports that VfB Stuttgart see former midfielder and current Como manager Cesc Fabregas as a potential candidate to replace Sebastian Hoeneß.
The current Stuttgart head coach is the manager that is consistently linked to either Borussia Dortmund or as the replacement for Xabi Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen, due to a release clause in his contract. This has meant that Stuttgart have to prepare for his potential departure.
Fabregas is the next coach to be linked to the club. The World Cup winner has gained a lot of praise for how he has coached the newly promoted Serie A side this season with Como currently sitting 15th in Italy’s first division. It is also helped that Como is backed by an Indonesian group that makes them the richest club in Serie A.
However, on the pitch, it is said that Fabregas’ style of play is very similar to that of Hoeneß’s so the transition between the two could be seamless.
A potential appointment of Fabregas at Stuttgart would be the type of appointment that the Bundesliga needs. A well-known head coach, who has absolutely no previous links to the Bundesliga and could bring new ideas to the league, instead of the same managers getting appointed over and over again, see Dortmund.
