A centre back was in tears this weekend because he’s set to leave his club, and Chelsea are keen – he has a £52m release clause!

Could Chelsea be about to pull off a shock surprise move to bring in a new centre back this late in the transfer window? Well, it would see like they are at least interested in doing so because there is never smoke without fire.

There’s plenty going on this week now as we go into the final seven days of this summer’s transfer window and Chelsea need to sell a lot of players still.

Tyrique George is getting interest from many clubs this week and there is a decent chance that he will move somewhere, whether on loan or on a permanent deal.

And defender Axel Disasi is one other player that Chelsea could look to sell still this week and he’s become the subject of interest from a number of Premier League clubs who are trying to find creative ways to sign the centre back this window.

But it is a new centre back that many Chelsea fans believe the club still need to bring in, and manager Enzo Maresca clearly wants one as well.

BILD in Germany are reporting that Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie might have played his last game for the club over the weekend and was in tears as a result.

And according to their information, Chelsea and Arsenal are showing concrete interest in the highly rated centre back.

Release clause

Hincapie apparently has a release clause in his contract. Sky in Germany are reporting that he has a £52m release clause that is available to trigger now.
