The latest Ibrox outfit quite frankly are a poor and inconsistent lot. Indeed the Celtic board have a great chance to leave them trailing simply by backing our own manager. And today Brendan Rodgers can build an early season four point lead over theRangers ahead of our trip to Ibrox at the end of August….

As all thoughts turn to Pittodrie this afternoon, and yesterday we had a little pick me up from our recent woes concerning the lack of transfer activity when theRangers dropped yet more points in a game they were expected to win convincingly.

According to those who watched events from Ibrox, the Govan Galacticos were fortunate to earn a point against Dundee after a last gasp James Tavernier spot kick spared some of the blushes of the Ibrox side and supporters.

Dundee tipped by many for relegation dictated most of the play at the home of the Scottish Premiership runners up, and left Glasgow feeling disappointed at only earning a point, which kind of tells its own story.

For the second week in succession Russell Martins’s men failed to win against a side who finished in the bottom six last season, and more concerningly for those of an Ibrox persuasion they looked second best on both occasions.

Celtic now has the chance to go four points clear this afternoon which will give us a psychological edge in the pursuit of the title even at this early stage of the new season.

It’s also the perfect opportunity for our board to leave our city rivals trailing by giving Brendan what he wants in the transfer market. Or maybe that’s just wishful thinking on my part?

Yesterday was a good day for Celtic now it’s over to the Bhoys to make it a perfect opportunity up at Pittodrie and in doing so extract a little bit of payback for the Scottish Cup final defeat to Jimmy Thelin’s side.
