Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers refused to be drawn on transfer rumours linking Jamie Vardy with a move to Parkhead in the summer window.
Recent reports claim that the 38-year-old striker has his heart set on joining the Scottish Premiership champions after leaving Leicester City as a free agent at the end of last season.
Vardy played under Rodgers for four years at the King Power Stadium, during which time they won the FA Cup and secured back-to-back fifth placed finishes in the Premier League.
The former Liverpool boss is eager to strengthen his frontline, but Sky Sports News report there has been “no contact” between Vardy and Celtic about a potential move.
“Listen, I would not speak about any individual player,” said Rodgers in a press conference on Tuesday.
“Of course I worked really well with Jamie, he was brilliant for me in my time at Leicester. But there’s been so many names floated about. I wouldn’t disclose either way.”
Celtic have until 11pm on Tuesday night to make up to two amendments to their European squad before hosting Kairat Almaty in the Champions League play-offs, but Rodgers does not anticipate any late signings ahead of the first leg on Wednesday.
When asked if he now expected to go with the players who are already in the building, Rodgers said: “That’s what I am feeling at this moment in time. The players that we have will be the players that I trust that can do the job.
“If we can get some players in before then, that would be amazing but the focus has been very much on what is here at this moment.”
