Celta Vigo sporting director Marco Garcés has on Thursday dealt those of a Barcelona persuasion something of a blow.
This comes courtesy of a fresh insight into the future of Óscar Mingueza.
The name of defender Mingueza has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines at Barcelona over the last couple of weeks.
As much comes amid suggestions that the Spaniard’s stellar recent form could soon culminate in a return to base in Catalunya’s capital.
Mingueza, for his part, has started the new season on fire, notching five direct goal contributions in his first five appearances.
And such form has not gone unnoticed back at the Camp Nou, where it is claimed that the 25-year-old is being watched closely, with a view to a potential comeback.
Mingueza spent his formative years developing as a player with Barcelona, with the Blaugrana having announced at the time of his sale to Celta Vigo that they secured a future buyback option.
Mundo Deportivo point towards as much as being worth a sum in the region of €9 million.
Amid mounting claims that Barca could seek to activate as much next summer, the subject of Mingueza’s future, on Thursday, was put to the aforementioned Marco Garcés.
In his response, though, as cited by MD, Celta’s sporting director was adamant that no such buyback clause actually exists:
“They have a right of first refusal over Mingueza and a percentage of a future sale, but Barca do not have any option to buy.”
