Didier Deschamps, the manager of Les Bleus, announced his 23-man squad this Wednesday for the September FIFA international window. Despite his excellent start to the season with Liverpool, Hugo Ekitike has not been selected for the squad. Deschamps explained his decision.

"Hugo, based on what he did last season and now at Liverpool—we were already tracking him at Frankfurt. Good for him. It's great that he's performing well, but there's a lot of competition.
