CAF unveils the new Women's AFCON trophy
The Confederation of African Football unveiled the new trophy for the Women's Africa Cup of Nations on Tuesday, July 2 in Casablanca. This presentation comes just days before the kick-off of the 15th edition, scheduled from July 5 to 26 in Morocco, and marks the tournament's entry into a new era.
With excitement building ahead of the 2024 Women's AFCON, CAF has revealed the new look of its continental trophy. The event was attended by teams competing in Morocco and African women's football legends such as Amanda Dlamini, Ajara Njoya, and Lamia Boumehdi.
"Directly inspired by the iconic men's AFCON trophy, this new design goes far beyond a simple award: it embodies a celebration of equality, unity, and excellence. Through this trophy, the Women's AFCON asserts a powerful belief: the greatness of football transcends gender," reads the CAF's official presentation.
