Lyle Foster has been out of action since the October international break

Scott Parker has provided an injury update on Lyle Foster ahead of Burnley’s clash with Norwich City this weekend.

The 24-year-old has been out of the team since early October, with his last appearance coming in their 0-0 draw with Preston North End.

Burnley also have injury worries surrounding CJ Egan-Riley and John Egan going into their meeting with the Canaries.

The Clarets will be looking to get back to winning ways on Sunday having drawn their last two league games.

Lyle Foster is back on the grass at Burnley

Parker has confirmed that Foster has returned to the grass as he works on his recovery from knee injury.

The Burnley boss is hopeful he’ll be fit for selection soon, as we approach the halfway mark in the campaign.

“Lyle was on the grass, still moving in the right direction,” said Parker, via Burnley Express.

“I don’t think it will be too long before he’s in contention.

“Got to increase his load now and get him to a level that he can withstand a high-speed game of football.

“Hopefully see him in the next few weeks.

“All of the players that are injured can make a massive impact. There’s never been a consistency of fitness in the front players. Them coming back gives us options from the bench.

“Tuesday night was heavy on the bench with defenders. I had to go with fit and available players.”

Parker issues Egan and Egan-Riley injury update

Parker has also provided updates on Egan and Egan-Riley, suggesting that the former was taken off in their midweek draw with Derby County due to precaution, while the latter is nearing a return to fitness.

“[Egan-Riley’s] doing alright, moving in the right direction,” he added.

“He’s been on the grass, it wasn’t a significant injury but we have to still monitor him.

“It was a tough decision to [substitute Egan].

“John Egan came out of the game with a tight calf, I didn’t want to risk him and miss him for a longer time.

“He’s trained today. Bash [Humphreys] did really well [as his replacement].”

Foster’s return will give Burnley a boost going into January

Foster coming back into the team during the busy winter festive schedule would be a welcome development for Burnley.

The forward hasn’t been able to find the back of the net consistently, but he does offer the side a focal point in attack.

Having extra bodies will also be helpful, as rotation could be key given how busy these next couple of weeks will be.
