This is according to The Celtic Way, who exclusively revealed that the youngster has been offered a new contract by the Hoops despite interest from elsewhere.

Cummings is an 18-year-old forward destined to have a strong career, with his level of scoring at youth level quite remarkable. Playing in the Lowland League for Celtic's B side, the youngster has managed to net 33 goals in 48 games and was recently awarded his first-team debut against Aston Villa in the Champions League.

Whether the decision to include him in midweek was a hint towards his future at the club remains uncertain, but should he sign a new deal, it will undoubtedly frustrate a number of clubs keen to secure his services.

As detailed above, it is reported that Celtic have offered Cummings a new contract and this potentially spells bad news for the trio of Championship clubs.

Earlier in the season, Football Insider revealed that a number of teams were scouting the striker ahead of a possible pre-contract offer and that those from the second tier included Burnley and Sunderland.

However, the most recent update involved Pompey, with Anthony Joseph stating that Mousinho was "keen to make him part of the first team squad".

Cummings had also attracted interest from abroad, with clubs from Italy, Belgium, and Austria monitoring his situation at Celtic.

This situation has now become more clear and although he has yet to sign a deal, the offer is now on the table from his parent club.

Daniel Cummings could have a brilliant future

Regardless of where he ends up, it seems plausible that Cummings will have a bright future with the youngster already so highly rated by those at Celtic.

While his opportunities have been limited to this point, Kyogo Furuhashi's recent departure to Rennes could open the door for him.

With Celtic dominating league matches, chances will undoubtedly be created for the 18-year-old, who, based on his B-team record, has shown a strong ability to put them away.

He would have been a great addition to Pompey, the Black Cats, or the Clarets, all of whom place prominence on developing young players, which would have helped the forward. However, it now seems most likely that they will miss out, but you can be sure they’ll continue tracking him until he signs that new contract.
