Burnley are continuing to search for their new permanent first-team manager ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

Following their relegation from the Premier League back to the Championship at the end of last season, Vincent Kompany has already moved on from the club.

Despite taking the Clarets back down in what was their first season back in the top-flight, the Belgian managed to secure the managerial role at German giants Bayern Munich.

That has of course, left the Turf Moor club searching for a new manager, with a number of names having already been linked with the role.

Things have seemingly gone quiet in the search for Kompany's replacement in recent days, so we've taken a look at some of the more recent updates on Burnley's hunt for a manager, right here.

Three names touted as potential candidates

While a number of names have been linked with the role, it seems as though the Clarets may be narrowing down their options as they look to bring in their new man.

Responding on X to one Burnley fan suggesting that updates on the hunt for a new manager had gone scarce, journalist Alan Nixon suggested that there are three names in the running for the job: Frank Lampard, Scott Parker and Craig Bellamy, with it down to taking their pick between the trio.

Lampard has been out of work since his the end of his second spell as Chelsea boss at the end of the 2022/23 season. Parker meanwhile, has not managed since being sacked by Club Brugge in March 2023.

Bellamy has never held a senior managerial role, but is currently in interim charge of Burnley, having been part of Kompany's backroom team at Turf Moor.

Lampard keen on return to management

It seems that if Lampard was to be offered the chance to return to the dugout with Burnley, it could be a move he is willing to make.

Amid those links with a move to Turf Moor, the 45-year-old was asked in an interview with TalkSport, about the possibility of him returning to management.

Responding to that question, Lampard admitted that he has recently turned down some opportunites to get back into management, as they "didn't feel right at the time".

He did however, also admit that he believes he is now "ready" to return to management, and he is keen to "find the right opportunity", suggesting that if an offer was to come in from Burnley, he may at the very least be open to looking into the possibility of taking on the role.

Carlos Corberan prefers Leicester opportunity

Another manager it has recently been reported that the Clarets are admirers of, is West Brom boss Carlos Corberan.

The Spaniard guided the Baggies to the Championship play-off last season, where they were beaten in the semi-finals by Southampton.

But despite Burnley's apparent interest, journalist Sacha Tavolieri has claimed that Corberan is more interested in the vacant managerial role at Leicester City, despite an approach from the Turf Moor club. The Foxes have just won promotion to the Premier League, but have lost their manager, Enzo Maresca, to Chelsea.

That could potentially open the door to a move to The King Power Stadium for Corberan, although others have been also been linked. Either way, it seems as though the 41-year-old may now be out of the running to take over from Kompany for one reason or another.
