Matchday 7 in the Bundesliga saw 32 goals across 8 games, a hat-trick, players scoring against their former clubs, and so much more. Here is your recap from matchday 7 in the Bundesliga.

Bayern Kane Stuttgart

Saturday’s topspiel saw Bayern Munich host VfB Stuttgart at the Allianz Arena. The first 45 minutes was a sloppy affair with both teams guilty of giving the ball away too easily. However, Bayern stepped it up a gear in the second 45 and blew Stuttgart away.

Harry Kane had gone 300 minutes of Bundesliga football without a goal until his long range effort found the bottom corner just before the hour mark. Three minutes later, Kane took advantage of some calamitous defending to make it 2-0. The England captain completed his hat-trick in the 80th minute before Kingsley Coman inflicted a fourth just before the 90th minute.

It’s a statement win for Bayern with many anticipating a much closer game. The win gets Bayern back to winning ways and back to the summit of the Bundesliga.

For Stuttgart, they’ve fallen into the bottom half of the table with a trip to Juventus coming up on Tuesday.

RB Leipzig: Title Contenders

RB Leipzig’s impressive start to the season continued as they put in a professional display at Mainz 05 to win 0-2.

What’s more impressive is the Saxons defensive record. Marco Rose’s side have only conceded twice in their opening seven Bundesliga matches. In comparison to reigning champions Bayer Leverkusen (who have conceded 13), Leipzig are showing signs that they are a force to be reckoned with.

Saturday’s clean sheet means it’s now been five Bundesliga games without conceding and with it, the Saxons go unbeaten in their previous 18 league matches.

If people weren’t taking Leipzig seriously as title contenders, they should be now.

Up next for Leipzig is a tough Champions League game at home to Liverpool followed by another tough home test against SC Freiburg on Saturday.

Heidenheim Haunted By Former Forward

Borussia Monchengladbach forward Tim Kleindienst faced off against his former employer last weekend when his side hosted Heidenheim.

As is often the case when these scenarios occur, the former striker inflicted misery on the fans which once cheered his name.

Kleindienst scored twice in the second half to ensure that Gladbach earned their third win of the season and move level on points with Heidenheim.

In fairness to the striker, he chose not to celebrate against the side he represented for eight years which perhaps softened the blow just a little bit for Heidenheim fans.

Bochum Take Action

VfL Bochum remain just one of two teams in the league yet to win a match after the 7th attempt of trying.

Last weekend’s 3-1 defeat against fellow-strugglers TSG Hoffenheim ultimately spelled the end for head coach Peter Zeidler and sporting director Marc Lettau.

Following a crisis meeting, the club have relieved both men of their duties and will now go in a different direction.

Bochum will understand that they’re going to be in-and-around the relegation zone this season but are clearly already fearful that they’re going to be left behind so early on in the season. The gap to complete safety is already at 6 points. With games against Bayern, Frankfurt, and Leverkusen coming up, it’s clear to see why Bochum have opted now to make a change.

Around The Grounds

Elsewhere in the Bundesliga, Bayer Leverkusen claimed all three points in a well-contested battle at home to Eintracht Frankfurt – Robert Andrich and Victor Boniface with the goals for Xabi Alonso’s side.

SC Freiburg remain in the top four with their third win on the bounce as they brushed aside FC Augsburg 3-1. Up next, a huge test away to 4th place RB Leipzig.

There were also wins for Borussia Dortmund, Werder Bremen, and Union Berlin.
