Gigi Buffon believes Igor Tudor has brought ‘the energy Juventus needed at this moment’ after sacking Thiago Motta, while he makes a prediction on the Inter vs. Napoli Scudetto race.

The legendary goalkeeper is now working with the Italy squad and coach Luciano Spalletti, but sat down with the Gazzetta di Parma at their Gtalk event to look at the current calcio scene.

That includes his former club Juventus, who fired Thiago Motta after barely eight months at the helm to see out the season with Tudor.

“Igor is someone who knows the Juventus atmosphere very well,” said Buffon.

“He brings the fresh energy Juventus needed at this moment. As for what the future holds, we can only wait and see.”

With Atalanta stumbling again at the weekend to a second consecutive defeat, the Serie A title really is a two-horse race now between Inter and Napoli.

“I’ve been saying since July that Napoli will finish either first or second, while Inter are to be taken for granted in the top two, seeing as they have by far the strongest squad,” added Buffon.

“I will note that so many fixtures could have a negative influence on the Nerazzurri, because they are playing important games every three days.”

While Inter are still in the Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich and the Coppa Italia semi-final with Milan, Napoli have only Serie A to focus on.

Buffon also looked at the relegation battle and another of his old clubs, Parma, who recently brought in new coach Cristian Chivu.

“Parma will fight it out with Lecce for safety. They seem aware of what they are battling for, and might be a little less attack-minded, but are more balanced than before. It is tough with their run-in, but Parma have always done well against the big clubs.”
