Bruno Fernandes is thought to be giving serious consideration to a blockbuster move to Al-Hilal.
Earlier this week, the Manchester United skipper, 30, was given a 72-hour ultimatum to make a definitive decision as to whether he’d be pulling the curtains on his European career and jetting off to Saudi Arabia.
Al-Hilal, currently home to ex-Premier League stars such as Ruben Neves (Fernandes’ compatriot) and Kalidou Koulibaly, are prepared to quadruple his current £280,000-a-week wages to £700,000 tax-free. The package they’re offering is expected to be worth up to £200 million for a three-year contract.
Should he give his green light to the transfer, United would then receive a formal offer of around £84m to sanction the exit of their most influential player.

Fernandes’ Red Devils tenure began back in January 2020 when he signed from Sporting Lisbon for a fee of £47m. The fact he’s won the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award four times in the five-and-a-half seasons he’s represented the club is just a testament to his unwavering consistency and impact – even amidst such turbulent times at Old Trafford.
He has accumulated 290 appearances across all competitions, scoring 98 goals and assisting 87. 39 goal contributions came in 2024/2025 alone (19 goals and 20 assists), prompting fans to question just how dire United’s season would’ve been had their captain not been pulling the strings in midfield.
While the M16 faithful won’t be able to fully rest until they know Fernandes’ future is safe and secure at the club, he did drop a hint about his intentions when interacting with a fan in Hong Kong on Friday.
The Reds had just clinched a late friendly win thanks to a brace from Chido Obi and a late contribution from Ayden Heaven to round off their post-season tour of Asia.
One supporter approached Fernandes as he was making his way through the stadium and said: “Bruno, please promise me you will not leave the club.”
He offered out his pinky finger in an attempt to seal the promise, to which Fernandes smiled and obliged.
