Bruno Fernandes is considering leaving Manchester United this summer amid a lucrative offer from the Saudi Pro League.
Al Hilal want to sign the Manchester United captain and are prepared to offer Fernandes a salary of £700,000-a-week to move to the Middle East.
United’s stance is that Fernandes is not for sale, but could be reconsidered in the wake of a significant offer and indication that the player wants to leave. The BBC are reporting that Fernandes is giving ‘serious consideration’ to a move to Saudi Arabia.
Fernandes has been a rare highlight in an otherwise tough period at Old Trafford. The Portugal international has recorded 182 goals and assists in 290 games across all competitions since arriving from Sporting Lisbon in 2020. He has been named as the Red Devils’ Player of the Season on a joint-record four occasions, including the 2024/25 season.
United will not play European football next season and finances are limited for a rebuild under Ruben Amorim. Despite Fernandes’ importance, an offer in excess of £80m could prove persuasive for a player who turns 31 in September.
Fernandes hinted that the club could cash in on him after the club’s defeat in the Europa League final. However, he reiterated his happiness at Manchester United following the conclusion of the Premier League campaign.
“I am just a very lucky guy who is living his dream in one of the best clubs in the world, in the best league in the world,” he said.
“What more can I ask? I just have to give it my all, for my team-mates, for myself, for my fans and for everyone who has been through every moment with me. That’s all.”
In terms of incomings, United have reached an agreement to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolves for £62.5m and remain interested in signing Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo and a centre-forward. The club face disappointment in the pursuit of Liam Delap, however, with the 22-year-old close to joining Chelsea from Ipswich Town.
