Roma legend Bruno Conti released a lengthy interview to La Gazzetta dello Sport a few days prior to his 70th birthday.
In the interview, Conti revealed he had been diagnosed with lung cancer two years and thanked Roma president Dan Friedkin for personally assisting in his recovery.
“Two years ago I was diagnosed with lung cancer,” said Conti. “I have to thank my family doctor, Dr. Camilli, who immediately noticed my persistent cough, and Professor Rendina of S. Andrea for the treatments that worked.”
He continued, “And I can’t forget President Dan Friedkin who wanted to take me to the United States to undergo special treatment at his own expense: I have kept his affectionate letters.”
“But now I’m fine, the tests are all fine. And I can say that I managed to dribble past this illness,” he concluded.
