Sunderland have completed the signing of Simon Adingra from Brighton & Hove Albion.
The 23-year-old has put pen to paper on a five-year deal at the Stadium of Light, becoming the latest addition to a rapidly evolving Black Cats squad.
While the fee remains officially undisclosed, it’s believed Sunderland will pay an initial £18.5m (€21.5m), with a further £2m (€2.32m) potentially due in performance-related add-ons.
Adingra is the sixth new face through the door this summer as Sunderland prepare for life back in the Premier League, joining Enzo Le Fée, Habib Diarra, Noah Sadiki, Reinildo Mandava, and Chemsdine Talbi as part of the club’s ambitious rebuild.
The Ivory Coast international made 33 appearances for Brighton last term, including 29 in the Premier League, and brings top-flight experience as well as plenty of pace and flair to the Wearside outfit.
Speaking to the club's media team, Adingra said: “It’s a pleasure to be here, and I cannot wait to get started. The Club and the project are really exciting.
"I spoke with everyone and their interest in me made the decision easy - I wanted to be part of Sunderland’s future. Playing in the Premier League has been a dream of mine since I was a kid, so to continue doing that is incredible. It’s a big challenge ahead – we’ll be facing top players and strong opponents - but I’m ready for it."
