Brighton & Hove Albion have reportedly joined the race to sign much-coveted Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville, according to TEAMtalk.

The winger has been attracting interest from a number of Premier League clubs in recent months, with Chelsea and Liverpool among those said to be keen on making a move for him, as well as Fulham.

The Seagulls are the latest side to be considering making a move for the Dutchman this summer, after a season which saw him register 28 goal contributions in the Championship for the Yorkshire side.

Albion are said to be able to offer Summerville the opportunity to play regular first-team football if he were to move to the south coast next season, something that they believe can help lure him away from Elland Road in the coming months.

Keeping hold of Summerville after Premier League relegation turned out to be a great piece of business by Leeds last summer, with Daniel Farke making the most of the Dutch star’s talents during the Championship campaign.

Whether he was scoring goals himself or laying them on a plate for others, the £1.3 million signing from Feyenoord was one of the most-feared attacking players in the division in the previous campaign, as his side fell at the final hurdle in the race for a return to the top tier.

That playoff final defeat to Southampton could have monumental consequences for those at Elland Road, with a report from the Daily Mail last month stating that Leeds would have to raise funds if they didn’t escape the EFL in the most recent campaign, with a sale of Summerville the most likely source to help that cause.

It is not only Premier League sides that are said to be monitoring the situation with the 22-year-old either, with German double-winning side Bayer Leverkusen also said to be interested in bringing him to the club, according to a report in Sportbild.

Brighton’s interest has been reignited in recent weeks, with Alan Nixon reporting that the Sussex side were considering a move in January, should Kaoru Mitoma leave the club.

The Sun journalist said at the time: He said: "Brighton are keeping an eye on Leeds United’s tricky attacker Crysencio Summerville - in case they lose Kaoru Mitoma."

“The Seagulls do not want to lose the skillful Japanese wide man but are doing their homework all the same.

"Summerville is key to the Leeds promotion push and it would take a big fee to land him next month. However if the Elland Road side does not go up then he could be sold in the summer."

Summerville currently has another two years left on his contract at Elland Road, having signed a four-year extension with the club in the summer of 2022.

The Dutch youth international initially signed a three-year deal with the Yorkshire outfit when he joined the club in 2020, before his strong performances as a teenager convinced the powers that be to extend that deal for the years to come.

That has proven to be a wise piece of business from the United hierarchy, with plenty of interest in their attacking talent this summer, with The Telegraph reporting that he would be available for a fee in the region of £30 million this summer.

Brighton are still without a manager after the departure of Roberto De Zerbi at the end of the previous campaign, although the Seagulls are reportedly close to appointing St Pauli boss Fabian Hurzeler as their new boss.
