It is now five defeats in a row Brentford fans have witness against Newcastle United, with 14 goals conceded and only four scored.

Three of these five defeats coming on home turf, as Eddie Howe’s side showed their quality.

Brentford fans with comments before, during and after, as their team were hammered 4-2 by Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon, commenting via their Griffin Park Grapevine forum:

PRE-MATCH

‘Think Frank has gone for strength and physicality as Newcastle are a big team. Huge game for Newcastle as they need to do better than Man Utd, will be a very tough game.’

‘Pope’s first game back after a long injury? Get at him before he settles in.’

DURING MATCH:

‘1-0 Newcastle. Zanka has not covered himself in glory.’

‘Saudi corruption at its finest. Get them out of this league now.’

‘Joelinton is a horrible thug.’

‘2-0. Stupid goal to concede.’

‘Newcastle running riot. Our bogey side. We aren’t with it.’

‘0-3. I feel sorry for the people who turned up for the last home game. This is a dreadful display.’

Isak is ruining us.’

‘Combination of playing against great players and defensive frailties.’

‘Looked alright first 5 minutes. The next 45, less so.’

‘The two bleached hair d.ck heads have been allowed to foul their way through the game with no retribution from a star struck ref.’

‘Guirmarez should be on 3 yellows by now.’

‘You know what, sometimes I think you simply come up against great players who are going to cause carnage even against a full strength side let alone one missing important players. I know we talk a lot about formations but we did lose 5-1 to them.’

‘Dont get me wrong, Isak is a great player and Joelinton and Guimaraes will find him all day, but if we give him 15 yards of space to be free in every time, of course he will hurt us.’

‘Excellent goal Janelt. Not that our forward play has ever really been the issue.’

‘Great work by Ivan to win the flick on followed by an outstanding finish from Wissa.’

‘Hall just kicked his own foot on the way down. Cheat.’

‘It was a clear foul, Bryan knew it himself.’

‘Penalty overturned. Free kick on the edge of the area instead.’

‘Love VAR!!’

‘Newcastle score from free-kick…’

‘Agreed with Newcastle fans. F VAR.’

‘Ref sh..e, not giving us anything.’

‘Hope we’re away last game of next season.

Really f…s me off away team/fans taking the pi.. at the end of the game.

Imagine us doing that at Newcastle, or Leeds, or anywhere for that matter.’

‘Hate them so much that I’m glad Chelsea finished above them.’

POST-MATCH:

‘Really laughed at seeing the desperate Toon celebrating failure at the end there.

Billions to spend and they scraped 7th place.

MASSIVE achievement…’

‘7th is failure for a club with endless funds and the big talk around the club having finished higher the season before – with Howe you wont progress, he is very limited.

Our season was a disaster due to endless injuries and not having 50 million pound players imwaiting in the wings to step in.

Toney will go, possibly looking like Spurs or West Ham (if they dont try to cheap us out).

Success any season for us is staying in the Prem, but will a fully fit squad all season there is no reason why we cant look at 9th or 10th again.’

‘They may have endless funds, but currently they are nowhere near a team that will challenge for anything. How many of their team would get in City’s starting 11 and that is the only comparable side financially, I would say none. I am not sure they would get many on the bench either.

I am sure their day will come, but currently having rich owners does not mean they are anything other than a beatable team on our day.’

‘I actually think Newcastle are probably the fourth best team in the division. They have matched us in terms of bad injury luck but are very tough opponents. Bruno and Isak are world class.’

‘Newcastle have a world class attacking unit and a bottom 3 defence. They will never win anything with that back line. The only thing that annoyed me yesterday was that we didn’t exploit the complete absence of any pace as much as we could have. Every time we played through them on the ground we got some success.’

‘Strange game. Great start- good atmosphere ruined by VAR again. Poor at back.

Great effort second half. Goal by Vitally. Amazing save by Pope from Toney, probable goal of the season by Wissa.

Still – entertaining second half. Fingers crossed for a decent summer of a few signings.

Didnt stay for the lap of honour. Couldn’t stand mixing it on the train with the skanky geordies.’

‘No complaints about the result. The better team won.’

‘It was much more fun watching Newcastle when Mike Ashley owned them.’

‘We were second best today. They didn’t really get out of gear. That joelinton is an absolute beast.’

‘I think this type of player is what we miss currently, works his socks off out of possession and carries the ball well (including the ability to pass it fluently while running fast). Hard to find perhaps but improves our team in a single signing.’

‘Seeing thugs like Guimaraes, Joelinton, Schar and Burn, I kind of missed having Onyeka for kicking some legs back.

And yes, both ends chanting “f… VAR” at some point, while the highlights may be all about the multiple interventions, tells the story of what VAR is about – it’s for people who watch games on TV, not for people who are in a football ground.’

‘We were outgunned in the middle and Linton and Guimarães mixed thuggery with some excellent football.

Newcastles hoodoo over us continues and although we did well to comeback into the game we were second best.’
