Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Cameron Carter-Vickers will miss Saturday evening’s game against St Johnstone. The Scottish Champions travel to Perth as they look to continue their perfect start to the season.

Although, Brendan confirmed to his media conference that his side would need to dispatch the managerless Saints without their star defender.

“He will miss tomorrow. He has got a pain on his big toe at the joint there, so we just need to look at that for every game.

“He has been playing with it for a little while but we have got to try and manage it because he was in pain during the Bratislava game.

“Hopefully it will settle down quite quickly and it will settle down for Tuesday.”

There were moments in the fantastic win over Slovan Bratislava that the USA internationalist appeared to move gingerly after tackles. Hopefully the rests for the defender from playing Falkirk and St Johnstone will mean that he is able to play at Westfalenstadion on Tuesday night.

Rodgers admitted that whilst he was optimistic on Carter-Vickers being involved, the focus is on the game and a decision would be made in the days before Dortmund.

“It’s difficult to tell. The focus is on this game and we will see where we are Sunday/Monday.”

Brendan will look to bringing Auston Trusty in for the game against St Johnstone to partner Liam Scales. The USA Internationalist signed from Celtic on a long-term deal from Sheffield United in a deal worth £6m. It is expected that he’s been brought into the club to challenge Scales to play alongside CCV.
