Middlesbrough continue to find value for money in the MLS market after winning the race for in-demand star Charlotte defender Adilson Malanda.
The 23-year-old joins up with the Riverside outfit in a permanent deal worth £6 million ($8 million) plus add-ons, with Charlotte also retaining a sell-on clause but Malanda will then back to Charlotte to complete the 2025 MLS season on loan.
He has been a standout performer for the Crown since arriving in North Carolina from Ligue 2 side Rodez during the 2022 summer transfer window, with the 6'4 centre-back establishing himself as a rock at the back across 94 appearances.
One of the brighter back-line talents across the league, Malanda is the latest star in MLS who has drawn the eye of Boro chiefs Kieran Scott and head of recruitment Chris Jones, with the club recently linked with serious interest in US international and Columbus Crew left-back Max Arfsten.
Malanda's capture can be viewed as something of a coup on Teeside, with Benfica, PSV, Club Brugge, and Boro rival Norwich all previously linked with serious interest.
