Current Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti was sentenced to one year in prison on Wednesday.
The former Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has been handed a one-year prison sentence. The conviction is linked to an offense against the public treasury related to the 2014 fiscal year. At the same time, the Brazil coach was acquitted of a similar charge for the following year.
According to EFE, the Italian tactician was also hit with a fine of €386,361.93 and has been banned "from receiving public aid or subsidies, as well as from benefiting from tax or Social Security advantages or incentives for a period of three years."
Ancelotti had been accused by the prosecutor's office of defrauding tax authorities of nearly one million euros during the 2014 and 2015 fiscal years, during his first stint in charge of Los Merengues. The 66-year-old coach maintained during the trial, held on April 2 and 3, that he never intended to commit tax fraud.
