Borussia Dortmund’s upcoming Champions League quarter-final clash against Barcelona has sparked an overwhelming surge of interest, far beyond what the club initially anticipated.
According to their official website, as relayed by SPORT, the German club has received a staggering 300,000 ticket requests for the highly anticipated encounter scheduled for April 15.
The match will be held at Signal Iduna Park, a stadium renowned for its electrifying atmosphere and immense capacity of 81,365 spectators.
However, even this impressive capacity falls drastically short of accommodating the extraordinary demand.
To manage the overwhelming number of requests, Borussia Dortmund will have to conduct a draw, as the available seats will be limited by various factors.
Apart from catering to their fans, the club must also allocate a certain number of tickets for Barcelona supporters, fulfil UEFA commitments, and ensure all necessary security measures are in place.
As a result, a sold-out crowd is inevitable, which is no surprise given Signal Iduna Park’s history of attracting enthusiastic supporters.

The stadium, also known as Westfalenstadion, is famous for its incredible atmosphere, especially when the iconic Yellow Wall roars in support of their team.
Barcelona previously experienced the intensity of Dortmund’s home ground during their 2-3 victory in last year’s group stage of the Champions League.
Despite their impressive win on that occasion, Hansi Flick’s side will face an even more challenging environment this time, with Dortmund’s fans eager to push their team to success.
Borussia Dortmund has had a turbulent season but appears to be finding stability under the leadership of Niko Kovac.
The Croatian manager, who previously worked alongside Hansi Flick at Bayern Munich, seems to be steering the club towards improvement.
His familiarity with Flick’s methods adds an intriguing dynamic to this quarter-final encounter.
The enormous interest in the match underlines the significance of the occasion. Borussia Dortmund will be striving to reach the Champions League semi-finals, a feat that has eluded them in recent years.
Meanwhile, Barcelona will be aiming to make their mark in Europe once again after failing to reach the final four since 2019.
