Bologna-Milan could be moved to neutral turf after weather warning | OneFootball

There is still uncertainty over the Bologna-Milan match, as while the Stadio Dall’Ara is unavailable due to extreme weather conditions, Serie A could still organise it on neutral turf.

The Week 9 fixture had been scheduled for Saturday October 26, kicking off at 17.00 UK time (16.00 GMT).

However, the local authorities announced this evening that the game cannot go ahead because the Stadio Dall’Ara is in a ‘critical area’ of the city that will be locked down amid extreme weather warnings.

The Emilia-Romagna region and specifically Bologna have been dealing with flash floods due to heavy rain in recent days and there is another storm front expected for Saturday.

This is becoming a potential problem for the clubs, because both Bologna and Milan are also in the Champions League and Coppa Italia, so rescheduling is going to be tricky.

A solution, say news agency ANSA, could come by playing the match this weekend on neutral turf and behind closed doors.

The Lega Serie A has still not made a formal announcement on this fixture, despite the local authorities confirming it won’t be played at the Stadio Dall’Ara.

This might give them time to rearrange the match elsewhere and some confirmation of the plan is expected tomorrow.

It would especially suit Milan to rearrange this weekend, because postponement would mean the Theo Hernandez and Tijjani Reijnders bans instead would apply to the big match against Napoli.
