Bologna CEO Claudio Fenucci has said that part of the match proceeds from the postponed game against Milan will be donated to  help victims of the flooding in the Emilia-Romagna region.

The game between Bologna and Milan, originally scheduled for Saturday, has been officially postponed due to extreme weather warnings in the area.

The game will not be played at a neutral ground, or in any alternative stadium, and will instead have to be rescheduled. At present, reports suggest that the earliest possible date to play the game will be in January, due to both sides’ Champions League and Coppa Italia commitments.

Though Milan Chair Paulo Scaroni wanted to get the game on, his Rossoblu counterpart, Fenucci, believes that it was the right decision to postpone Saturday’s game.

“There is an objectively difficult situation in the area surrounding the stadium, some structures have also collapsed. There are objective situations that made it difficult to play the match in Bologna, aside from the solidarity of the families in our area,” Fenucci said.

The Rossoblu CEO went on to confirm that part of the match proceeds will be donated to flood victims whenever the Milan game is carried out.

“The postponement seems to me like the wisest choice, because it allows us to protect the match proceeds, part of which will be donated to the people affected.”
