Some summer signings are estimated to be among the big earners at Ewood Park

Blackburn Rovers certainly had an interesting time of things in this summer's transfer window.

For some time now, the club's owners Venkys have found themselves having to be given approval from the courts in their native India, any time they want to invest money into the club.

With recent hearings over that investment being delayed, there were some concerns among the club's fanbase about whether they would have the funds available to make signings in the market.

Given how they only avoided relegation from the Championship on the final day of last season, that will have created some worry about their prospects for the coming campaign.

In the end though, no doubt aided by recent sales of the likes of Adam Wharton, Sam Gallagher and Sammie Szmodics, Blackburn added nine new players to their first-team squad.

So far, those additions have certainly helped to make it a strong start to the campaign on the pitch as well for John Eustace's side.

Blackburn showing early promise in 2024/25

In stark contrast to their struggles last season, Rovers are now pushing at the other end of the table at the start of the current campaign.

An improvement in results and performances means that they are now competing for a spot in the top six in the Championship table.

Indeed, Blackburn have so far won all four of their home league games this season, having won just six Championship matches at Ewood Park across the 2023/24 campaign.

So with things, so far, looking much more promising this time around, it does seem as though this is a squad that is starting to earn their money with their performances for the club.

But just who is being paid the most through the funds that Venkys have invested into the club as things stand?

Here, we've taken a look at the estimated wages of the Blackburn Rovers first-team squad - according to Capology - in order to help find out.

Todd Cantwell thought to be Rovers' top earner

As per these predicted figures, the current highest earner at Ewood Park is summer signing Todd Cantwell.

The 26-year-old made a move to Lancashire on the final day of the window, signing from Scottish giants Rangers on a three-year deal that secures his future with the club until summer 2027.

It is claimed that the attacking midfielder is being paid £30,000 per week by Blackburn, which works out at £1.56million per year.

Given the length of his contract, that means he could make around £4.68million if he sees out the entirety of his deal at Ewood Park.

Having made this move, Cantwell has had to build up his match fitness after a quiet summer with Rangers, meaning his involvement has been somewhat limited so far.

Even so, he has shown plenty of signs of promise, especially with an excellent second-half outing in the win over QPR, that included a beautiful assist for Danny Batth to make it 2-0.

It was reported in the summer that while he was taking a cut from his pay at Rangers, Cantwell was still on a high wage by Blackburn's, and indeed, the Championship's standards.

With that in mind, it is perhaps no huge surprise that the 26-year-old is at the top of this particular table.

Rovers will therefore be hoping that the attacker can build on the cause for excitement he has already shown, in order to make their investment in the attacker worthwhile.

It is perhaps also interesting to note that the club's next two highest earners are also thought to be summer signings, in Lewis Baker (£20,000 per week) and Andi Weimann (£17,500 per week).

That may be a sign of the priority that those at Ewood Park gave to bringing in players with Championship quality and experience this summer.

If it continues to bring about the results it already has for Blackburn, they will no doubt feel that those moves have certainly paid off.
