Arsenal have some big decisions to make in the January transfer window.

The 2024/25 season hasn’t gone to plan at all for Mikel Arteta and his Arsenal squad so far.

The summer signings have failed to fire up to now, and it seems like Arteta made a big mistake by not signing a top-class striker during the off-season.

The Gunners boss will have to atone for that error either in January or next summer at the very latest.

It could also be argued that Arteta has failed to get the best out of the players currently at his disposal, and the onus is on him to turn that around from now until the end of the season.

And there is one player in particular who just hasn’t been anywhere near good enough for the Gunners this term.

Raheem Sterling twist with Arsenal future hanging in the balance

The Gunners signed Raheem Sterling on a season-long loan in the summer.

However that deal is now looking like a terrible one for Arsenal, despite the fact that the Blues are subsiding a large chunk of his salary.

Sterling, who earns £16,900,000 per year split between Arsenal and Chelsea (Spotrac), has failed to make an impact since moving to the Emirates.

In fairness to the former Liverpool and Manchester City attacker, he hasn’t really been given sufficient opportunities to prove himself.

And according to a report from the Evening Standard, Sterling is determined to remain at the Emirates and force his way into the side beyond the end of the January window.

If true, that’s a sign that the 30-year-old still has real hunger to prove himself to Arteta, and the Arsenal fans of course.

There could well be life in the old dog yet.
