Paulo Fonseca made it clear that he will use players from the Futuro and Primavera teams if needed, and tomorrow that should become a reality. According to a report, Alex Jimenez and Mattia Liberali are both expected to start against Genoa.
After the game against Red Star Belgrade, Fonseca was brutally honest with his assessment, stating that the players didn’t have the right attitude. Furthermore, he made it clear that he would use players from the Futuro and/or Primavera teams if needed.
According to Luca Bianchin, the Portuguese manager is set to show courage tomorrow as Alex Jimenez and Mattia Liberali should start against Genoa. For the latter, expected to play in the No.10, it would be his official debut for the first team.
Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Emerson Royal, Gabbia, Thiaw, Jimenez; Fofana, Reijnders; Chukwueze, Liberali, Leao; Abraham.
Jimenez, meanwhile, made his debut for the team already last season and has been a key player for the Futuro side. The choice to start Liberali likely comes as a result of Yunus Musah picking up a muscular injury, which also should keep him out against Verona.
In any case, starting the Milan Futuro would indeed show that Fonseca isn’t messing up, especially with Francesco Camarda ready on the bench as well.
