Celtic Academy product Ben Doak has sealed a move from Liverpool to Bournemouth. The Scottish Internationalist signed a five year deal with the Premier League side in a deal worth £25m.
As confirmed by Sun Sport, Celtic will net a significant seven figure amount due to a sell-on clause inserted in the £600k sale four years ago.
Doak was highly rated by the Celtic hierarchy and earned a breakthrough into the first team in Ange’s first campaign. Although, this exposure, including in a famous win over Rangers, wasn’t enough to keep the player at Celtic and he subsequently left for Liverpool.
The winger, who wishes to be known as Gannon Doak in recognition of both of his parents, completed the formalities today and will link up with former Celtic teammate Ryan Christie. Gannon Doak and Christie are regulars in Steve Clarke’s Scotland setup and it’s exciting to have the wide man playing regularly, especially as we approach a World Cup Qualifying campaign.
The added bonus will bolster Celtic’s coffers but the hope is that the club put that money to work and get a number of players in. Celtic are looking quite short in the front areas but it looks as if they have missed the chance to add players ahead of the UCL Playoff.
