Bayern Munich are ‘trying’ to sign Luis Diaz from Liverpool with the winger ‘open’ to the transfer.

The German champions are determined to bring in a high-profile left-winger and have made Diaz a top target. Liverpool have rejected approaches from Barcelona and Bayern for the Colombia international but the latter are remaining persistent in their pursuit.

Vincent Kompany is seeking to add to his attacking options following the departures of Leroy Sane, Mathys Tel and Thomas Muller. Jamal Musiala is also facing a lengthy spell out after suffering a serious leg injury at the Club World Cup.

Sky Germany have claimed that Diaz is open to leaving Liverpool if an ‘exciting offer’ arrives but there are no agreements with the player or between the clubs.

However, Bayern director Max Erberl has held talks with the player’s representatives in recent days.

Liverpool are reluctant to lose Diaz, who was a key part of the club’s Premier League title success last season.

He scored 13 league goals for Arne Slot’s side but talks over a potential contract extension ave reached a stand-off. Diaz’s current deal at Anfield expires in 2027.

Liverpool currently have doubts over several options in their forward line. Darwin Nunez has been linked with Napoli, while Harvey Elliott is considering his future amid a desire for regular first-team football.

The Reds are also dealing with the tragic loss of Diogo Jota, following the death of the Portuguese forward in a car accident earlier this month.
