Bayern Munich star enjoys high pressing system under Vincent Kompany | OneFootball

Bayern Munich will resume the second half of the season next weekend when they travel to Borussia Park to face Borussia Monchengladbach. The Bavarian club enjoyed a productive first half of the season under Vincent Kompany. The Belgian coach arrived in Bavaria from Burnley in the summer.

Die Roten are currently leading the points table by four points over defending champions Bayer Leverkusen. The Bavarian club lost only one league game in Hinrunde, a solitary defeat against Mainz late in December.

Along with getting desirable results, Kompany has also implemented an attractive style of football at Bayern. The Belgian coach wants his team to press aggressively, giving the opposition very little time on the ball. Die Roten have consistently dominated games throughout the season in and out of possession.

Courtesy of Kompany’s style of football, there is a big onus on the attacking players to work hard off the ball. While talking to the club’s magazine in the December issue (via iMiaSanMia), Michael Olise spoke glowingly about the high-pressing system Kompany has instilled in the team.

Olise is also enjoying life in Bavaria since arriving from Crystal Palace in the summer. The French forward scored nine goals across all competitions in the first half of the season. He also chipped in with six assists in 22 appearances for Bayern.

Kompany has played a big role in getting the best out of Olise on the right flank at Bayern. The French forward looked in fine form ahead of next weekend’s game, as he was on the scoresheet in the friendly game against RB Salzburg on Monday.

Kompany’s biggest challenge at Bayern lies ahead

The Belgian coach deservedly got all the plaudits for a successful Hinrunde, but bigger tests lie ahead for him. As the season progresses, players will be tired due to a cramped schedule. It will be interesting to see if Bayern will continue to play such a high-pressing style of football when we reach the business end of the season.

Kompany will have to use the entire squad to make sure players are fresh for the entire Ruckrunde. He will also face some of the best clubs in the Champions League if Bayern go deep in the competition. Kompany will be tested tactically in these big games.

As of now, Kompany has ticked all the boxes for Bayern. However, the biggest tick will arrive if he helps Die Roten to win silverware after enduring a trophyless last season.
