After enduring difficult six months at Bayern Munich, Bryan Zaragoza has looked back to his best this season. The Spanish winger is thriving on loan at Osasuna. Courtesy of good form in La Liga, Zaragoza was back in the Spanish squad during the international break.

Zaragoza made an instant impact for Spain as he won and converted a decisive penalty against Switzerland in added time. The 23-year-old winger’s goal turned out to be the winner for Spain in the 3-2 victory. The goal against Switzerland will further boost Zaragoza’s confidence.

At the club level, Zaragoza has got consistent game time at Osasuna. He has made 13 appearances for La Liga this season. The Spaniard has scored once and provided five assists for Osasuna. His best performance for Osasuna came in the 4-2 win against FC Barcelona in September.

Zaragoza joined Bayern in January. His signing was brought ahead by six months after Kingsley Coman suffered injuries. Zaragoza made seven appearances for Bayern in the Bundesliga, but he spent only 171 minutes on the pitch. After signing Michael Olise in the summer, Bayern decided to send Zaragoza out on loan to Osasuna.

Thomas Tuchel couldn’t get the best out of Zaragoza at Bayern. The German coach insisted that the Spanish winger needed time to get used to the new language and league. While talking to the media on Monday (via Bild), Zaragoza hit back at Tuchel for not giving him game time at Bayern due to a lack of German or English knowledge.

Bayern’s decision to loan Zaragoza reaping rewards

Even though Zaragoza arrived only in January, Bayern Munich made the brave decision to send the Spaniard out on loan. The Bavarian club would have preferred him to stay in the Bundesliga, but there was significant interest from Spain in the 23-year-old winger.

Zaragoza would have got game time at Bayern, but it wouldn’t have been sufficient for him to get a call-up for the Spanish national team. Bayern are expected to shuffle the attack next summer. Zaragoza is reportedly not part of Die Roten’s plans, but a productive loan spell at Osasuna will give him a chance to stake a claim for a place in Kompany’s squad for next season.

Despite how things have gone for him in Bavaria, Zaragoza doesn’t regret joining Bayern in January. The Spaniard may not have given up on the dream of succeeding at Bayern, but it remains to be seen if the club has already made a decision regarding his future.
