Marco Baroni was satisfied with his team’s showing in their 2-2 draw at home against Antonio Conte’s table-topping Napoli, admitting that the injury suffered by Taty Castellanos was ‘the only negative’ in an otherwise successful afternoon for the Biancocelesti.
Lazio took a first-half lead through a Gustav Isaksen scorcher, but were pegged back to 2-1 through Giacomo Raspadori and a comical Adam Marusic own goal, before Boulaye Dia restored parity in the 87th minute.
Lazio made three signings in the January transfer window in Arijon Ibrahimovic from Bayern Munich, Reda Belahyane from Hellas Verona and Oliver Provstgaard from Vejle. All are aged 21 or under and are currently unavailable to feature in European matches, but are yet to play in Serie A either.
Baroni hinted that the new recruits might be in for game time in the near future, particularly after the injury to Castellanos.
“I work with everyone. I bring everyone forward. Sometimes my attention is more focused on those who don’t get the gratification of playing,” Baroni told DAZN, reported via TMW.
There were particularly encouraging performances from goalscoreres Dia and Isaksen on the day against Napoli.

“Dia is a strong player, Isaksen’s performance was extraordinary,” Baroni said. “He’s a growing lad, and I’m happy because you can see the passion the team fights with. We want to do it until the end.”
“The only negative part is Taty’s injury, which we will have to evaluate. But we have these young guys who will help us.”
Asked if Dia might be the man to start up front for Lazio in their game against Venezia next weekend, Baroni replied: “He has already done it and the same goes for Pedro, who is a universal player. I like these players who don’t give specific preferences.”
