In what was supposed to be just another regular day at the office, Manchester City’s last-minute move to sign former Barcelona midfielder Nico Gonzalez has surprised many.
The Premier League giants have met Nico’s €60 million release clause for Nico, with Barcelona set to receive a handsome economic boost in the process.
Nico’s move, meanwhile, appears to have created a domino effect in the market, with Porto now eyeing a move for Pablo Torre.
The Portuguese giants want to sign Torre as a direct replacement for Nico in these last few hours of the transfer market.
A recent report from SPORT has offered more perspective on the future of Torre, even revealing Barcelona’s current stance in the transfer saga.
As per the report, the Catalans are not actively looking to sanction the departure of Torre. But should something happen, the club are preferring a direct sale.

It appears Barça are not interested in Torre’s loan as it is not revenue accretive for the club nor does it do anything to solve the wage problem.
Instead, Barcelona prefer a direct sale, presumably one where they can still retain a buyback clause in the future.
Porto, for their part, could be ready to splash the cash, having just received €60 million for the sale of Nico.
That said, coach Hansi Flick is not too keen on offloading his current options, including Torre. That is despite the fact that the young midfielder has had a difficult time finding regular game time this season.
The next few hours, therefore, could prove to be crucial as Barcelona make a definitive call on the future of the young midfield prodigy.
