According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, it has come to light that Barcelona are set to head back to Asia this summer for pre-season preparations as part of a contractual agreement.

The club has partnered with the Korean promotion company D-drive Corporation to organise four friendly matches and potentially a pre-season event before May 30.

The tour, branded as ‘The Tournament,’ will include two matches in South Korea and two in Japan.

Details of the tour

According to the outlet, D-drive Corporation is reportedly close to finalising the two friendlies in South Korea. These games are expected to generate approximately €10 million in revenue.

While the exact opponents have not been officially confirmed, one match is likely to feature a team from the K-League. Another possibility is a fixture involving a selection of the top players from the Korean league.

As for the second game in South Korea, the organisers are considering a clash with a European club.

Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are among the potential opponents since neither is participating in the Club World Cup.

What’s more?

The additional friendly scheduled before May 30 remains uncertain. This depends heavily on Barça’s progress in the Champions League, with the final set to be held on May 31 at the Allianz Arena in Munich.

If the club advances to that stage, their calendar could become too packed to accommodate this extra match.

Barça’s return to Asia is expected to strengthen their global fan base while providing valuable match experience ahead of the next competitive season.

These matches offer a crucial opportunity for players to fine-tune their strategies and develop better on-field chemistry.

Fans in both South Korea and Japan will eagerly await the chance to see their favourite stars in action, making this a significant pre-season venture for the Blaugrana club.
