According to a report from AS, Barcelona will not be making their way to South Korea for a friendly match to wrap up the season as initially planned.

After their last La Liga match against Sevilla, Barcelona had intended to cap off the season with a friendly match.

Now, this is a tradition they have upheld in recent years, primarily to rake in a few extra million euros and this time around, the idea was to journey to South Korea to take on FC Seoul.

Why will Barcelona not play the friendly?

As reported by the outlet,  the friendly will not be happening due to scheduling conflicts for the South Korean team, which has its League matches scheduled for May 28 and 31.

Given that Barcelona’s season wraps up on May 26, finding a suitable date for the match has proven impossible. This poses a significant setback for the Blaugrana, particularly considering their pressing financial needs.

Now, it is worth recalling that two years ago, Barcelona travelled to Australia in late May, specifically to Sydney, for a friendly against Australian League stars, which they won 3-2, marking the club’s first match in Oceania.

Last year, they opted for Japan, facing Andres Iniesta’s Vissel Kobe, resulting in a 2-0 victory.

This year, Barcelona also attempted to arrange a friendly before the season’s end, but the Euro Cup and the Copa America, both kicking off in June, forced the marketing department to reluctantly abandon any viable options.

Consequently, Barcelona will conclude the season next Sunday, with the match at the Sanchez Pizjuan.

Following this, the international players will enjoy a brief break before joining their national teams, while the rest of the squad is expected to regroup at the Ciutat Esportiva in July to commence pre-season training.
