Barcelona’s interest in Villarreal star confirmed | OneFootball

The interest of La Liga champions Barcelona in the signing of a member of the attacking ranks at Villarreal has early this week been confirmed.

The player in question? Etta Eyong.

The name of youngster Eyong of course suddenly emerged as a prominent one in the Spanish media chatter on Monday.

As much came after word was forthcoming that those in the boardroom at the aforementioned Barcelona had earmarked the 21-year-old as a potential market opportunity.

Eyong, for his part, has spent the early weeks of the new campaign continuing to make a name for himself as a potential breakout star in the making.

Across Villarreal’s first two outings of the term, the Cameroonian has notched a goal and an assist.

With his Yellow Submarine contract containing a cut-price release clause, Barca, in turn, have been tipped to launch a move for Eyong.

And as alluded to above, the interest of the Blaugrana has now been confirmed, by market insider Fabrizio Romano:

“Barça are considering the possibility of signing Etta Eyong and loaning him out to another team until the end of the season. At the moment, it’s not decided and is merely an internal idea.

“What Barça and people close to the club know is that the release clause is five million euros.”
